Convert ICO icon files to PNG to extract clean icon artwork with transparency preserved. PNG is the ideal format for ICO conversion — it supports full alpha transparency (just like ICO), keeps sharp edges losslessly, and is universally compatible. Perfect for extracting favicons for use in email signatures, documents, and design tools.

Yes. Modern ICO files support alpha transparency, and PNG supports full alpha transparency including semi-transparent pixels. The icon's transparent areas are preserved in the PNG output, making it ideal for use on coloured backgrounds.
PNG is almost always the best choice for ICO extraction. It preserves transparency, uses lossless compression (like ICO), and is universally supported. The only case where JPEG might be preferred is when you specifically need an opaque image with a white background at smaller file sizes.
Convert the favicon.ico to PNG, then in your email signature editor (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail), insert the PNG as an image. The transparent background will display correctly over any email background colour.
Many favicons are designed at small sizes (16–32px) for browser tab display. Our converter extracts the largest size available in the ICO file. If the largest size is 32px, that is all the ICO contains. For higher-resolution output, you need a higher-resolution source.
You can, but the resolution may be too low for display as a page logo (which is typically shown at 100–200px or larger). If the ICO was designed only at favicon sizes, the PNG will be blurry at larger display sizes. If available, use the original high-resolution SVG or PNG logo source.
