Convert AVIF images to JPEG for universal compatibility. AVIF is a next-generation format used by major streaming platforms, but most image editors, email clients, and older apps cannot open it. Converting to JPEG gives you a file that works on every device, in every app, and on every platform — no special software required. Free, private, browser-based.

AVIF files are typically already compressed. Re-compressing to JPEG at quality 90%+ produces results that are visually indistinguishable for photographs. At quality 85%, file sizes are smaller with still-excellent visual quality.
Chrome 85+, Firefox 93+, Edge, and Safari 16+ can display AVIF. Photoshop 23.2+, GIMP 2.10.28+, and a few modern editors support it. For anything older, convert to JPEG or PNG first.
Yes — AVIF achieves the same visual quality as JPEG at 50% smaller file sizes on average. Converting to JPEG will produce a slightly larger file for the same quality, but the JPEG will be universally compatible.
Yes. This converter works in Chrome on Android and Safari on iOS (14+). Open the page, upload your AVIF, convert to JPEG, and download — all on your phone.
Standard EXIF metadata (date, GPS, camera settings) is typically preserved in the JPEG output. Specialist AVIF metadata beyond standard EXIF may not transfer.
