Convert GIF images to BMP (Bitmap) format for use in legacy Windows applications and workflows requiring uncompressed pixel data. BMP removes GIF's 256-colour limitation by storing full-colour pixel data in an uncompressed format. All conversion happens locally in your browser — free, private, and instant.

BMP stores the pixel data faithfully without further compression artefacts, but it cannot add colour information that GIF's 256-colour palette discarded. The BMP will look the same as the GIF frame — just stored in a different format. For true quality improvement, start from the original uncompressed source.
BMP is specifically needed when target software or systems only accept BMP. For general use, PNG (lossless) or JPEG (smaller files) are better choices than BMP. Convert to BMP only when required by your specific workflow or software.
Significantly larger than the GIF. A 500 KB GIF may become 3–10 MB as BMP because BMP stores every pixel without compression. Ensure your target system has adequate storage.
BMP is a static image format. Our converter extracts the first frame of the GIF and converts it to BMP. The animation is not preserved.
Standard 24-bit BMP does not support transparency. GIF transparent areas are replaced with a white background in the BMP output.
