At JPEG quality 90–100%, the quality loss is imperceptible for print-quality photographs. The TIFF original should always be kept as your master archive. Use the JPEG conversion as your delivery copy for web, email, and client proofs.
TIFF is not a web format — browsers do not support it natively, and most smartphones cannot open TIFF files. It is primarily used in professional imaging workflows (cameras, scanners, print production). Convert to JPEG or PNG for universal access.
There is no difference. TIF and TIFF refer to exactly the same format — Tagged Image File Format. The three-character .tif extension was used on older Windows systems that required short extensions, while .tiff is the full extension used on macOS and modern systems.
Yes. Converting scanned TIFF documents or artwork to PNG gives you lossless output with smaller file sizes than TIFF, and PNG is universally supported. For document scans, this is ideal. For photographs, JPEG or WebP at high quality is usually preferred due to smaller output sizes.
